Q. I understand that a flat rated account includes up to 5Mb of webpage space. How do I activate my web page space?

A. Email cwiaacct@cwia.com and ask for webpage space. You will be emailed back your folder name. You may then ftp (see Download Software to locate FTP software) your pages to your folder. Please make your first page index.html. Note: Any illegal activity will be reported and please do not post material which is not suited for viewing of children. Allow 2 to 4 days for setup.

Q. I am unable to get authorized when calling numbers?

A. Be sure that you have the login suffix @cwia.com as part of your login name (example: if your old login was joe, you current login should be joe@cwia.com)

Q. I have been able to receive email but now people tell me they cannot send me email. Why?

A. Your email box may be full. People emailing you will be sent an error message saying the email box is full. To clear the box, go to webmail.cwia.com and delete some messages. If you have checked leave email on server, this will fill up your box. Check our email settings to see how to remove this from your email software settings.

Q. I am unable to get my email?

A. Be sure that you have the login suffix @cwia.com as part of your email login name (Note: the email login is a separate login from your internet access login. If you are using Outlook Express, go to Tools on the menu bar and select accounts from the Tools drop down menu. Click on Properties and then select the tab Servers. The Incoming Mail Server Account Name should include the @cwia.com). Your receive email server should be set to pop.cwia.com. Your send server should be set to smtp.cwia.com. You can also check email at http://webmail.cwia.com or http://www.mail2web.com (With mail2web.com, you must use the advanced login and put pop.cwia.com as server name).

Q. My password is not working with email login?

A. The new email system requires at least a six character password. If you are using your old password with less than six characters, add 2's to make the password six characters long.

Q. How do I retrieve any email that might be left on the old server?

A. The easiest way to check for your email left on the old server is to go to http://www.mail2web.com. Select the advanced login. Put mail2.cwia.com in the Server name box. Put you cwia email address in the User box. Put you old password in the Password box. You can also use you existing email software if set you POP3 or receive email setting to mail2.cwia.com. Also if you have added 2's to your password, use your old password without the added 2's. Reset your receive email back to pop.cwia.com after you finish as no new email will go to the old server.

Q. I am getting emailed so much junk email. How can I get rid of it?

A. If you get on a emailing list, it will increase your junk email receipt. The best way is to have an email address likeYahoo Email (click on the Email icon at the top). This email is free and has filtering. Or Hotmail for ordering items and not put your regular email name on any lists. You can change your email name to get rid of current junk email. You can also use filters which are included in some email software like Eudora. You can also get filters for Outlook and Outlook Express at Software4parents

Q. Why am I having to enter my password again when I send email?

A. The send mail server and the receive mail server are different systems in the new system. Each requires a login. If your email package has a place either to use the receive login or you can enter the password for each server, you will not be required to enter it again.

Q. I subscribed to a 28.8 or 56k service yet my connection speeds show a slower rate. Why?

A. Modems show the speed at which the initial connections are made. The actual transmission speed during connections can vary widely depending on line interference and other variables. We have seen connections on our X2 lines with X2 modems that connect at 28.8 but vary during the connection time to speeds as high as 52k. If you want to check your current speed, call our tech center 1-6 Monday thru Friday at 916-641-6476. You can also check speeds by doing a ftp download. Also check the site www.dslreports.com/trouble/ . Use the Tools selection at the site. Phone lines vary in different areas and noise on the line can affect speeds. If you connect at a slower speed, try redialing in to the modem. If you are never able to negotiate the 56k technology speeds, please run line tests at the site listed above and then email us with the number you are calling and calling from.

Q. Why do I get disconnected when I am reading my email or not accessing the internet?

A. To assure that we can give the best connection service at an affordable price, we have implemented an 12 to 15 minute idle time out. After you download email, you should disconnect while you read the mail. I know you like to respond immediately, but you can set you email to send later. Then when you are finished reading and replying, you can reconnect and send mail. It is against our terms and conditions to continuously check for email or run pings or unattended chats.
